Saturday after work we headed to Bloemfontein to see our newborn niece
Before we went to my cousin Jimmy to see the newborn we went to get some lunch first and also to buy some things for the newborn
This time we chose Braza, we have been there before but nothing really stood out, so we decided to give it another go. Braza is a Portuguese restaurant with some influence from some African influence.
Braza
We ordered a chorizo for starters but somehow i think the waitress forgot but we ended up only with the main courses
Baby Hake with Bone in. Not bad actually, was grilled near perfection, although the there was not much flavor but the meat of the fish was very nice. Had to use quite some amount of sauce to flavor the fish though, which it was somewhat upsetting
Chicken & Steak Espetada- Steak was grilled to ordered, medium rare which was great. But the chicken they used was white meat (breast) which it was a little dry, other restaurant we we chicken Espetada before used dark mean (thigh) which held more juice and more flavor.
We had pap cube as the side for the Espetada, pap/mielie pap is ground maize then cooked to a porridge-like texture. The ones we had here was cooked and cut into cubes then deep fried. Crunch on the outside yet soft on the inside with some gravy on top
Peri Peri sauce, or also called Peri Peri sauce is a hot sauce made from a type of chili found in Africa. Most restaurants in Southern Africa have this type of sauce yet every restaurant has their different take on ingredients affecting the flavor. This one at Braza was not as good as other we have tasted before, not hot enough and very little salty-ness
