04/14 – 04/15*S.A.* Durban/Ballito Trip Day1 Nightout & Day2

Our accommodation for the first night of the holiday at Ballito we stayed at Durban, the largest city in the KwaZulu Natal province. Durban is 40km South of Ballito.  Part of our crew could only leave a day later so we decided to stay overnight at Durban at the Three Cities Square Boutique Hotel, very close to the Gateway mall.  Before arriving at the hotel we made it to Gateway mall for dinner, we chose Capetown Fish Market as our first dinner for our holiday. We had eaten at this very same restaurant a couple of years before but this time around the quality of food was not to what we have expected, and not in a good way.  Probably 90% of the food ordered on the table for 8 adults and 5 children were way too salty for everyone’s taste.  Everyone complained.

After dinner, we had some ice cream at the mall stall

Tashas

The first morning we headed back to the mall for brunch, at Tashas

The whole experience was superb, food was great decor was something to see and the cleanliness.  Overall a great experience.  Everyone enjoyed the food

After brunch, we shopped a little bit at the mall and the rest of the crew was arriving at lunch from Ladybrand.  So for lunch we decided to eat at a Chinese Cafe/Restaurant called Sun Sun supermarket.  It’s a Chinese supermarket and next door it’s their cafe/restaurant

Fish Market

Dinner for day 2 we are going to braai at our self-catering beach house at Ballito. First stop, of course is to buy SEAFOOD. Lobster, prawns, tuna, salmon calamari etc.  We had to contact our friend that stays in Durban and ask him where to get fresh seafood, he recommended a place and it was great. They have both frozen and fresh seafood of all sorts, a big variety.

After seafood shopping, it was time for regular grocery shopping plus the meat and veggies for the braai tonight.  Stopped at Woolworths and Spar close to our place.

Sunshowers Ballito

第二次入住Sunshowers Ballito

This is our 2nd time staying at Sunshowers Ballito, the location of this house has nothing to complain about, proximity to touching the sand at the beach is literally less than 2 minutes.  At this house, we have 6 adults and 2 toddlers, the rest of the crew stayed at another house, 5 minutes walk. We really liked the house except for one thing, especially if you have small children living with you in the en-suite master bedroom. the master bedroom is situated right next to the patio/sunroom. Between that, it’s a full length of glass sliding door, so the sound proof was not that great.  So if the children needed to sleep early the noise caused by the adults from this patio is really present, so from time to time we adults had to remind ourselves that there are children sleeping in the bedroom nextdoor.  This house was fully equipped with amenities, A/C, DSTV, full kitchen, braai equipment and even a pool table.  It also has a rooftop terrace with faux grass (if that’s what it’s called) to relax and see the beautiful ocean view. Although there is no swimming pool, but we didn’t care, we at the beach

Bright moon, great friends, great food, great booze but not so great Karaoke lol

A very happy ending to the night

(mental friends wanted to throw one of our other friend into the ocean lol, just because, without reason)
